  • Operating water/wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems to ensure proper treatment of wastewater by maintaining sludge thickening, digestion and disposal processes, as well as proper chlorine residuals
  • Conducting visual plant inspections and monitoring plant operations/processes to ensure proper operations and to detect equipment failures, potential leaks, or other problem situations reporting maintenance needs to appropriate personnel
  • Operating water treatment plant equipment/systems to treat water to meet standards required for public consumption and industrial use determining appropriate chemical feed rates adjusting chemical feeds and chlorine application as needed
  • Performing general/preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep plant facilities, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking and replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing or cleaning equipment, cleaning work areas, or mowing/edging grounds
  • Preparing or completing various forms, reports, correspondence, operational log sheets, laboratory bench sheets, chain of custody forms, time sheets, or other documents
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable county, state, and federal records and permits for waste treatment


  • High school diploma or GED and 3 - 4 years of previous experience involving wastewater treatment plant operations and laboratory analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Operator's Certificate issued by the regulating state
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds
