Description

Purpose:                   Create Machine parts and tools using precision computer equipment. Set up, adjust and maintain equipment, create and inspect the finished parts to ensure they meet all specifications.

 

Reports:                    No direct reports.

 

Scope of Position: 2nd Shift

 

  1. CNC Machine Shop
  • Operate a CNC machine to create parts and tooling using components such as switches, tool registers and offsets.
  • Set up, operate and inspect all machined parts according to drawing specifications.
  • Assist in training new machinists on CNC mills and lathes and coach weaker machinists in the proper methods for producing precision machined parts. 
  • Conducts advanced training for more qualified machinists for continuous improvement.
  • Creating, development and documenting tooling fixtures.
  • Develop and maintain individual machine archive folders on computer server.
  • Assist in new product development and trouble shoot the machine building process in the Assembly area.
  • Work collaboratively with Production staff to help setup procedures and data in the Production area.
  • Assist Production staff and other Supervisors in creating new part routings and updating existing routings for the machine shop.
  •  

    Specific behaviors:   

  • Instill a high sense of urgency into all actions of the machine shop department ensuring that proper time and activities are carried out.
  • Keep management at all times informed about problems with products in the field and supply appropriate data to engineering, assembly and management to effectively analyze current problems and prevent field problems
  • Be a self-starter, originating action rather than simply responding to circumstance. 
  • Use compelling/creative approaches and presentations to link customer needs to Formtek product features and services.
  • Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with after sales support to resolve any issues that arise focusing on achieving customer satisfaction and timely delivery of the product.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    No direct reports.

     

    This position is office based in Formtek's Cleveland facility.

     

  • Minimum five years experience in a machining/manufacturing environment.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong influencing, coaching and consulting skills
  • Work in a collaborative environment with strong ability to take action and get results to achieve the business needs.
  • Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates, and supervisors and to lead change in a team environment.
  •  

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • The minimum education required is a high school diploma and hands-on knowledge of machine building and machining.
  •  

     

     

    Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time
